Eastern's Offerings

Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College offers rigorous and relevant programs and grants degrees (at the associate level) and/or certificates in numerous program areas.  Some programs are career-oriented preparing graduates for entry into job opportunities requiring a certificate or associate degree. To those who meet degree requirements in Individualized Career Studies, Business Management, Business Operations Support, Electromechanical Technology, Technical Studies in Information Systems, and Early Childhood Development, the college awards the Associate in Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.).
In addtion, Eastern's real-time, video distance-learning network makes an A.A.S in Nursing available in Moorefield from Southern WV Community and Technical College.

Other programs are designed for students expecting to transfer into a bachelor’s degree program at a four-year institution, who may choose to complete the Baccalaureate Transfer Programs and earn the Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees.

Each program includes a general education core satisfied by completion of courses in multiple disciplines; a concentration specific to the major; and elective courses permitting the student to select coursework relevant to his or her career or educational goals.
The college’s current catalog provides a suggested sequence of courses for each program to help guide the student in meeting graduation requirements.  At the same time, Student Support Services encourages students to work closely with an academic advisor in selecting courses that meet the degree or certificate program requirements.

Both the college transfer and the career programs offer courses on a two-semester basis (fall and spring), usually 16 weeks in length each, and a summer term. In addition to traditional college courses and classroom learning experiences, Eastern offers many distance learning opportunities, including interactive video and courses brokered in by agreement with regionally-accredited institutions. These additional offerings expand the learning opportunities for our students.
