Adult Basic Education Instructor (Pendelton County)

Developer/Coordinator: Wind Energy Technology Training Program

Developer/ Coordinator of the Wind Energy Technology Training Program

Position: Grant Funded faculty position;
Location: Moorefield Headquarters, Eastern Complex; Petersburg Technology Training Center; other locations as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Direct the Wind Energy Turbine Technology Training Program
  • Lead program's curricular development
  • Organize and lead a modified DACUM process
  • Oversee hiring search for program faculty
  • Identify, specify, price and purchase all equipment and materials necessary and appropriate for program's training and curricular needs
  • Work with the representatives of Wind Tech Industry, media outlets, school districts, college staff and other organizations to organize and coordinate effective marketing and student recruitment campaign for program
  • Supervise the faculty and all academic aspects of program
  • Travel as necessary to work with industry, governmental officials and relevant professional associations nationwide for curricular development and other program needs
  • Keep informed and current on proceedings and policies of the American Wind Energy association (AWEA), attend its conferences and participate in its education and training programs
  • Assist with all aspects of student support services relating to the program, including enrollment, counseling, tutoring, job placement and job retention
  • Assist in developing assessment tools, measures and processes for the program, including for job placement and job retention related to the program, and related to other technical programs as necessary
  • Collect and publish all data related to program, including academic, demographic, job placement and job retention, as necessary to comply with requirements of program grants, WV Council for Community and Technical College Education mandates, and college interests
  • Assist Eastern's grant writer in writing grants to secure funding for the Wind Technician program
  • All other responsibilities and duties as directed by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Related Engineering degree (preferred: Masters in Electrical Engineering). 

Experience

  • Five(5) years engineering experience in industrial projects and settings
  • Five (5) years experience in supervision of programs and/or projects in wind energy technology preferred, or programs in the electromechanical technology, engineering or other related fields
  • Faculty Instructor at the college level in the areas of Math and/or Technical Training preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Computer skills to level of Excel
  • Experience in creating Master Course Records preferred
  • Familiarity with technical aspects of the Wind Energy Industry and with AWEA training Curriculum preferred
  • Experience in the development of Wind Energy Technology program preferred

Salary level will be commensurate with education and experience.

Adult Basic Education Instructor (Pendleton County) Adult Basic Education

Position: Hourly instructor needed to provide instruction in basic academics and General Educational Development (GED) preparation to adult students (3hrs. wk/30 weeks: Grant Funded Position).

Qualifications:

  • Professional teaching certificate (preferred) or eligible for an adult license for Adult Basic Education (four-year college degree - minimum of 2.5 GPA in original course work; a minimum of 3.0 in course work used in maintenance of certificate or adult license)
  • Prior experience in teaching adults preferred
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of adult learners preferred
  • Computer instructional skills required
  • Effective oral/written communication skills required
  • Experience with software management systems preferred
  • Ability to provide basic academic skills, job-readiness, and life-coping skills to adult learners required
  • Ability to attend teacher training prior to the first class meeting required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other agencies and organizations

Terms of Employment: As needed for the length of the class. Student enrollment, contact hours, and funding may affect the length of employment.

Duties:

  • Instruct students in basic skills, GED Preparation skills, life-coping skills, and computer skills
  • Develop an individual program of study for each student based upon the student's goals and skill levels
  • Conduct confidential student interviews
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and materials that meet individual student needs
  • Apply accommodations for students with special learning needs and make referrals for diagnosis and special support service when appropriate
  • Prepare and submit applicable data relating to student enrollment, progress, and completion (or termination)
  • Monitor student and class progress (attendance, contact hours, federal core measures)
  • Establish and maintain collaborative linkages with other referral service agencies

  • Exhibit ethical behavior and demonstrate good work habits, including punctuality and attendance

  • Demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively with personnel from other agencies
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information as outlined in section four of the ABE Instructor Handbook

Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor: Workforce Department

Position: Contractual, Not Benefits Eligible: Contractual Period: Signed each calendar year

Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the WV State Board of Nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of two years full-time or equivalent clinical experience is required, including a minimum of one year of clinical experience in long-term/geriatric nursing
  • Completed Train the Trainer program or successfully complete the program April 6, 7, & 8, 2009
  • CPR trainer certified preferred
  • Availability in 6 week increments, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4 pm, minimum 2 times per year
  • Previous experience teaching adults recommended

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, teaches and coordinates the certified nursing assistant program
  • Supervises and monitors nursing assistant students throughout evaluation period
  • Assists in the prescreening of CNA candidates as applicable
  • Assists in evaluation of performance of nursing assistant students
  • Assists in development and implementation of nursing center orientation
  • Makes center rounds in all customer care areas to assist with maintaining quality nursing assistant services rendered
  • Develops Continuing Education programs each calendar year which include State/Federal mandatory CEU training as applicable
  • Teaches CPR as applicable
  • Maintains comprehensive nursing assistant student files during the evaluation period
  • Establishes and maintains mutually professional relationship with the staff at Genesis Healthcare, Hampshire Center, Romney, WV and other clinical sites as applicable
  • Performs other duties as requested

Rate of Pay: Contractual; $2600 maximum per 6 week instruction
